Jamia Millia Islamia Partners with Human Welfare Foundation for National Writers’ Clinic

The Department of Educational Studies (DES), Faculty of Education, Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI), in collaboration with the Centre for Training and Academic Guidance (CTAG) under the Human Welfare Foundation (HWF), organized a three-day National Intensive Writers’ Clinic (NIWC). Held at the School of Education Building, the clinic aimed to strengthen academic writing skills among emerging scholars, focusing on APA 7th Edition guidelines.

Titled “A Hands-on Experience on Writing APA 7th Style Manuscripts”, the workshop blended theoretical instruction with practical application to promote academic rigour, publication ethics, and scholarly visibility. It was designed to help doctoral candidates and early-career researchers develop fluency and precision in scholarly writing.

The event opened in an atmosphere of academic engagement, drawing faculty members, research scholars, and representatives of collaborating institutions. Dr. Quazi Ferdousi Islam welcomed the participants, while Dr. Sameer Babu M contextualized the need for immersive, practice-based academic training. In a special address, Mr. Noufal PK, CEO of HWF, emphasized the role of institutions in democratizing access to research support and editorial mentorship.

Prof. (Dr) Kaushal Kishore, Head of DES, delivered the Presidential Remarks, encouraging scholars to adopt academic writing as a consistent, ethical, and reflective practice. Dr. Zeba Tabassum introduced the workshop schedule, and Mr. Vaibhav Verma, Ph.D. Scholar, delivered the Vote of Thanks. Dr. Sultana Parveen, Coordinator of CTAG, shared the vision of the Centre and its commitment to supporting marginalized communities through education.

Conducted in person, the workshop featured hands-on activities such as editing manuscripts, preparing reference lists, and using citation software.
