The Annual Status of Education Report (ASER) 2024 reflects encouraging progress in school enrolment across rural India, including several North Indian states. While these gains are a positive sign, thousands of children from economically disadvantaged families continue to face significant barriers to completing their education. Poverty, financial constraints, inadequate learning resources, and social exclusion often prevent children from participating fully in school and increase their risk of falling behind or dropping out.
As the new academic year begins across North India, many underprivileged families struggle to provide even the most basic educational materials for their children. For countless children, the absence of a school bag, notebooks, stationery, and other classroom essentials can become a barrier to learning, affecting both their confidence and continuity in education.

Recognizing that every child deserves an equal opportunity to learn, the Human Welfare Foundation remains committed to promoting education as a catalyst for social transformation.
In line with this commitment, HWF has launched its School Kit Distribution Program for the Academic Year 2026–27. By easing the financial burden on vulnerable families and ensuring that children have the tools they need to learn, the program encourages regular school attendance and enables students to participate in classroom activities with confidence and dignity.
The program will primarily benefit children living in socially and economically disadvantaged villages, urban slums, and tribal communities, where access to educational resources remains limited. Through this initiative, HWF aims to strengthen classroom participation, reduce the likelihood of school dropout, and inspire children to pursue their education without interruption.
